McKechnie Iron Foundry is a heavy jobbing ferrous operation, employing 70 people, producing castings for:-
Automotive - press line dies, bolsters, injection-moulding dies.
Mining - cyclones (coal washing), wear parts (lip liners, plates & conveyor deflectors) & slurry pipes.
General Engineering - Pump casings, gearbox casings, ball mill girth gears, paper mill equip, bearing housings, valve bodies and dies, pipes & power station castings.
Metal types cast and capacities:
AS 1830 Cast Iron - all grades to 25 ton casting weight.
AS 1831 SG Iron (Ductile Iron) - all grades to 19 ton casting weight.
AS 1833 Austenitic Cast Iron to 8 ton casting weight.
AS2074 Steel - Carbon, tool and alloy to 12 ton casting weight.
AS 2027 White Irons EG 27% CR, NI Hard, 20-2-1, etc to 5 ton casting weight.
Spectrometer analysis and third party testing (NATA certified if requested) guarantee nominated metal specs have been supplied.
Full NDT services can be supplied through accredited third party contractors.
Proof machining or fully machined product can be supplied. We have a close working relationship with several machine shops in Adelaide allowing close monitoring of vendor contracts.
Casting orders can be monitored through internal / external quality plans (Inspection and Test Plans) upon request. McKechnie Iron Foundry is ISO 9001 & 14001 certified.
We supply a full onsite Pattern and Heat Treatment service. (Heat Treat stove measures 5450mm x 3440mm x1850mm, an extension takes overall length to 7250mm.
Quoting and production drawings can be received via email. On-site CAD will accept most software packages and file types.
Box sizes range from 300mmx 300mm to our largest moulding pit 8030mm x 4650mm.
